HSS and the University of Washington share two in-progress automation projects. HSS presents an automation that checks authorization status with a major payer. The University of Washington presents an automation that automatically faxes appeals for Level 4 emergency department (ED) claims paid at Level 3, addressing ED downgrade denials. Each project includes a design and challenges discussion followed by community feedback.
