Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Workqueue Export - Outpatient
Remove 10-12 day old encounters from each outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) workqueue in the EMR, export each queue, and import the files into the outpatient CDI Access database.
Problem Statement
The outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team prioritizes its work in a Microsoft Access database rather than in the EMR. Every day, 10-12 day old encounters have to be cleared from each EMR workqueue, and the queues exported and loaded into Access before reviewers can start. A team member was starting at 4:00 a.m. to do it, about two hours of off-hours work each day.
Automation Solution
This automation enters each outpatient CDI workqueue, removes encounters in the 10-12 day range, exports each queue, and imports the files into the CDI Access database so the prioritized worklist is ready when the team logs on.
