Charges entered after the filing deadline are flagged by the Epic edit and sit unbilled until staff manually resolve them. The timely-filing modifier must be applied so that when the claim ultimately denies, the denial is correctly attributed to timely filing rather than disappearing into untracked write-offs. Without it, the organization loses visibility into how much revenue is lost to late charge entry and can't target the root cause.
