Problem Statement

Health systems must manage a massive volume of unstructured payer correspondence arriving by fax. Faxed correspondence in particular arrives as raw, unstructured images with no accompanying data, so each one has to be opened, interpreted, and classified by hand before anyone can work it. The work is largely clerical, so staff spend their time sorting and keying documents instead of the higher-value work their role is meant to support.
