Clinical Audit - Nursing Chart Review - Patients with Restraints
Problem Statement
Hospitals run ongoing nursing chart audits to confirm documentation and care standards are being met, and doing them manually means a reviewer opens each patient's chart and reads through it against an audit form. Restraint use is one of the most tightly regulated areas of inpatient care, with specific requirements for orders, monitoring, and documentation, so these charts have to be audited promptly to confirm compliance and protect patient safety. Reviewing each restrained patient's chart manually is time-sensitive, detailed work, and an audit that lags leaves potential documentation or compliance gaps unseen on exactly the population where they matter most.
Automation Solution
This automation runs the daily Epic patient-restraints report, reads the patient data to complete the chart audit form, and uploads the completed audits to SharePoint.
